Working with Justin Cook PR
“We first hired Justin for our film Hundreds of Beavers for Fantasia Fest 2023.
He generated a bunch of buzz around our premiere which helped us build a
profile.
This was the spark that gave the film life. Then, in 2024, when we were ready for our self-released theatrical run, I called Justin again: and he was game for a WILD five months of Beaver Fever.
Nothing about our release was normal - usually publicists have the advantage of a pre-planned release schedule, but ours evolved as the situation changed.
He was critical in getting the snowball rolling, securing press hits in each of our “Great Lakes Roadshow” cities. With his help, we were able to pack theaters on the Road Show, which then generated more press.
Eventually, the big dogs showed up - NY Times, LA Times, Variety, and many more - thanks to Justin’s persistence and collaboration.
Personally, it was my first time releasing a movie, and Justin was always there with friendly advice on my strategy. He helped me avoid a lot of pitfalls and gave me a good sense of the current media landscape.
He rolled with the punches and was supportive the whole time.
We’ll be working with Justin again on future releases, and you should too.”
— Kurt Ravenwood, Producer—Hundreds of Beavers
“I’ve personally worked with Justin across an array of projects at Arrow for several years anging from theatrical releases to Blu-ray and UHD. Justin has also been integral in developing a strong North American PR presence for streaming service, ARROW. Always incredibly enthusiastic, supportive, Justin really goes the extra mile. Justin has a great understanding of genre films old and new, great contacts within the industry and still surprises us with exciting breaks and support. We work closely with filmmakers regularly who are also extremely pleased with the level of service and support Justin and support offers to them personally and to their films. We really appreciate all the work Justin does and can’t wait to work with him on more projects in the future.”
— Louise Buckler, Senior Marketing Manager—Arrow Films
“Not only did Justin work incredibly hard to deliver tremendous media coverage of the film from a variety of respected outlets, but our perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes proves how pivotal he was in getting our important title exactly where it needed to go.”
— Michele Josue, Director/Producer—Matt Shepard is a Friend of Mine
“Justin was a tireless hard worker, he was always on the ball, always quick to respond and he delivered incredible publicity results for our film and for my brother and I as writers/producers. Most importantly, Justin was a total blast to work with. When he wasn’t scurrying my brother and I from one place to another or from one interview to another, we were frequently and often sharing a laugh as Justin. While being a complete professional, is also a very engaging and hilarious human. Justin Cook was a pleasure to work with and would give a very enthusiastic recommendation to anyone looking for a talented, hardworking publicist who also happens to be a great human.”
— Darren Geare and Jeff Allen Geare, Writers/Producers—The Retaliators
“Thanks to Justin’s efforts, we watched in amazement as our little independent film went from being barely a blip on the internet radar to suddenly garnering the kind of featured online visibility and exposure that we had only dreamed about. Our only regret is that we did not discover Justin sooner and find a way to bring him on board to work on Blood Punch from the very beginning of the project”
— Madellaine Paxson, Director/Co-Executive Producer—Blood Punch
“Everything Justin did contributed to the overall success of the film. We appreciate all his due diligence and his contacts are impeccable.”
— Allan Glaser, Producer—Tab Hunter Confidential
“I’ve worked with a number of PR professionals over the years, and I can say without hesitation that Justin delivered one of the most effective and well-executed campaigns I’ve seen on a project of this scale. From the very beginning, Justin took the time to understand not just the film, but the tone, audience, and positioning we were aiming for. He tailored a campaign that felt personal, strategic, and focused on results.
Thanks to his work, we landed dozens of press pickups— everything from horror-specific blogs and genre outlets to broader indie film coverage. These were not generic press blasts; they were targeted, meaningful placements that helped build momentum for the film’s release. Justin also secured multiple podcast interviews for me as the director, allowing us to speak directly to potential viewers and engage with fan communities in an organic way. His media contacts and communication style opened doors that would’ve been difficult for us to access on our own.
Equally important was Justin’s work behind the scenes. He coordinated seamlessly with our distributor, ensuring that press releases, screeners, and announcements were aligned with release timelines. His ability to stay organized and responsive kept the campaign on track during a very hectic launch period.
Beyond the tangible results, Justin was a pleasure to work with—professional, communicative, and genuinely invested in the film’s success. He never overpromised, always followed through, and was transparent about what he was doing and why. If you’re looking for a publicist who combines real-world effectiveness with passion and professionalism, I highly recommend Justin Cook.”
— Jason Horton, Writer/Director—A Hard Place

— Thymaya Payne, Producer—Live Cargo
“One of the wonderful things about Justin is his resourceful ability to swing from genre to genre and always find the absolute perfect PR outlets for your project – in our case a horror picture and a gay indie. After two shows I still love that Justin is always ten steps ahead.”
— Joseph Graham, Writer/Director—Beautiful Something, Co-Director—The Horror Network Vol. 1
